Message: I guess I should of said it differently, then saying "what's next." I see the plane crashed between buildings in a parking area at Hawthorne Municipal Airport! If my memory serves me right, wasn't there a deadly plane crash in 1966, at the intersection of El Segundo and Prairie? Moving on, I see Lennox was shaking yesterday, I hope an EARHTQUAKE isn't "next!" Opps! I said it again, for Hawthorne.

Message: On the subject of Grandkids, my grand daughter turns 16today. We'll be picking her up in Vegas for a Jonas Brothers(Who?) concert in a few weeks. And what makes me the World'sGreatest Grandpa is that when we head up to Oregon (herhome) on vacation next month, we'll be towing my restored'69 classic Beetle to give to her.
Hey Alan, It looks like you need a baseball bat to beat the boys off of her, man. Great gift too, although she's probably holding out for a new Honda

Mine will be 13 this year.

Message: Looks like the 1969 reunion will be bigger and better than we expected. Great show of support from all who have signed up. As the money keeps pouring in, we hope that everyone that wants to go, can! There's a limit of 500 cap. for the lagoon, so if you are planning to attend, get that money in before all the room is taken. I'm very excited, as are many more to see such a tremendous turn out. Hurry and send your money in , and we all look forward to a great night. AUGUST 22, 2009

Message: Regarding Rocket Road. I have several old Thomas Guides. The latest in 2000 still did not have Rocket Road listed. No road shows at all where the road is today. I did notice Broadway goes from Prairie to Crenshaw on the Google satellite map but was only a proposed road in 2000.

Message: Wow judging by John's and Jim's grand-babys we're going to have to change the names of things in the future. The boys will outnumber the girls, finally. Old Butler (vs Old Maid). Finally. Girls will be the power holders in the Cotillions of the future. Old women (like me) will be recruited by cruise ships to dance with all the single old men. Men will wear make-up and high heels ... ok that was a reach. Congratulations Jim and John. How exciting for your families.
Hey Patty, Mine is not exactly a grand-BABY. Cory will be a Teenie Bopper this year.

Message: As I was getting ready for work this morning I had the TV on listening to the local news when they started doing a story about Pet Airways. Boy was I surprised when they made mention that this new airline that will cater to all of our four-legged friends will be booking weekly flights right out of Hawthorne Municipal Airport as well as four other regional airports in the New York, Chicago, Denver, and Washington D.C. areas. How purrr-fect is that?
OH GREAT, now my dog will be bugging me to send him to some cat house in a far off one horse town.....yeah, when donkeys fly.

I remember the camera on top of the Hawthorne water tower. My mom did not like it one bit. We had another thankfully small earthquake last night. I was watching the local CBS station and a commercial was saying "Don't panic".

Message: SpaceX also has a facility in McGregor, TX not too far from where I live. I looked on their website and it shows Rocket Road by the Jack Northrop Field off Crenshaw. Until I saw Michael's post, I did not realize their main offices were in Hawthorne. They got a lot of publicity here recently when they did a big rocket test and didn't notify the news, etc. Lots of folks thought we were being invaded.

Message: Hey class of 1964...I just went in and looked at our Alumni List and we have a lot of people who have never joined Cougartown and also many who have not paid any dues for a very long time. Come on people, we all know how much we enjoy this site and how much work JB puts into it. What would happen if JB could no longer keep this going? You wouldn't be able to try and find old friends or find out what get togethers we are planning. Look at all the people that have reconnected to old friends and flames. So cless 1964 (and all other classes) can't you send in a mere $10 a year to support JB and this web site? Ah come on, you can do it!
Thank you Maureen for the shameless Ctown Member commercial. Also Thanks very much to all our Cougartown Members for their genuine support of this website. It is appreciated.

Message: Wade, Bill is Kathy's younger brother. He wasn't with the Brewers, but the Cardinals, Cubs, Seattle, Oakland, & Toronto. Pitched in the 1985 All Star Game for the "A"s and fanned the inning. He's now living in the Seattle area and working for Scott Boras. Scott negotiated Bill's multi-million $$$ contract with Toronto as a favor (he was a family lawyer) which gave Scott his niche and made him the most infamous agent in baseball.

Message: Alan, Greg, Tony Wilhite was All League Catcher from Costa in 1973. I put the connection together right away after hearing of the accident. Sent a card to the family via CSF. Alan, is your wife related to Bill? He was an outstanding pitcher at Aviation and in the Big Leagues with the Brewers. Seems the South Bay has put a great number of players into the Bigs. Hope all is well with all Cougs this day.

Message: The water tower is storage, as well the others surround the treatment plant. The bulk of Haytown's water comes from the MTW connection at 120th/Crenshaw. The base of the tower flares making a circular tool room. The tube around the ladder isn't very big and straight up. On top, there is a hatch, and a railing around for 3-4 people. My Dad ran the joint so I was a regular....
Thanks Steve

Message: A few weeks ago I saw Miss Gregor/Mrs. Harris (a former German teacher at Hawthorne High), at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. As she passed I asked (in German) if she spoke German, she assured me (in German) that she could. Fortunately for me the rest of our conversation was in English. I invited her to come to our reunion at the Seaside Lagoon on August 22 and she said that she would. It was really nice to see Mrs. Harris and she looks forward to seeing her former students. Now my Question, Mr. Baker does that count as a Cougar sighting?
Hey Jon, Absolutely, and thanks very much. Always nice to reconnect with our teachers.
